Instant Messaging App Oy! Combine Various Services in One Platform

Just did the soft launch, already has more than 20 thousand businesses and 1.000 official partners in five cities

The number of applications with various services, sometimes becomes inefficient for its users. What's more, the app has churn rate tall one. To overcome this, Oy instant messaging app comes by positioning itself as an aggregator of various services in one platform.

Oy doesn't want to just be an ordinary instant messaging service because it has other features. Starting from search, social media, providing reviews, and payment systems, it allows users to no longer need to use many applications at the same time. All of these features are claimed not to be present in Indonesia and Oy wants to be a local application used only by Indonesians.

For example, to find the nearest restaurant, users can now do pick-up order with advance reservations, reservations for specific events, or bulk orders.

"Our idea is to provide everything in one application, from chatting with friends, buying plane tickets, and more. Consumers can interact with all types of businesses from large companies to traditional shops and services," said Oy Founder and CEO Jesayas Ferdinandus, during the event. soft launch Oh, Wednesday (27/9).

The spirit of Oy is actually based on the presence of local applications that appear in each country and are strong there. Take for example, India has Hike application, China has WeChat, Korea has Kakao Talk, and Japan has Line. All of these applications are now transformed into a single big player in their own country and have various services on one platform, from services to finance.

Work plan after receiving an injection of funds

The Oy app was actually only founded in March 2017, founded by six people with experience working in leading technology companies. One of them, Jesayas previously worked at Go-Jek as Head of Go-Food.

Even though it has only been established for six months, it seems that the company has received fresh funding for the pre-series A stage, with an undisclosed amount, led by Syailendra Asia.

Jesayas said that the majority of this funding will be used to add new talents as engineers. The acquisition of this fresh fund has further strengthened the Oy team to continue to expand its partners and launch various services, including launching financial services in the form of an electronic wallet to accommodate all forms of in-app payments. It is planned that this electronic wallet service will be available in November 2017.

Another target, by the end of 2018, Oy can collect 200 thousand business listings and 10 thousand partners spread across 40 cities throughout Indonesia. Currently, Oy has more than 20 thousand business listings and 1.000 partners in five cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Medan and Surabaya).

Some of Oy's partners include Wings, Mahadaya, and Japfa. In addition, there are radio stations such as Cosmo FM, Hardrock FM, Brava Radio, iRadio, and Trax FM.

There are only five business categories currently available, namely the food business, night life, fitness and sports centers, health services, spas and beauty salons. Later the Oy application will contain 15 types of businesses, ranging from retail, hospitality & travel, telecommunications, mass media, automotive, financial services, insurance, and others.
