Nvidia Launches DLSS Plugin for Unreal Engine

More games will support the AI-based upscaling feature

Launched Radeon RX 6000 Series ultimately brings capability ray-tracing to the red camp (AMD). Before this, if gamer want to enjoy the effect ray-tracing which is so stunning, they have no other choice but to entrust the graphics card from the green camp (Nvidia).

However, AMD still has a lot of homework to do to catch up with Nvidia. One of them is DLSS. As we know, AMD still doesn't have an alternative to the Deep Learning Super Sampling technology. At the same time, Nvidia is even more aggressively promoting DLSS and ensuring its availability in more game.

Recently, they released Plugin DLSS to Unreal Marketplace, which means all developer those using Unreal Engine 4 can now easily integrate DLSS into their game his claim. This means that in the future we will see more and more game which supports DLSS features.

DLSS itself there are two versions. In the first version, the implementation is quite difficult, so in the end the number of game there are only eight titles that integrate it. In DLSS 2.0, besides the performance is getting better, the implementation is also much easier.

So far it has been recorded 35 titles game which supports DLSS 2.0 features, and the number will definitely continue to grow with his presence Plugin for Unreal Engine earlier, because the implementation will definitely be even simpler.

DLSS at first glance might sound less than good when compared to ray-tracing, but in practice this feature is incredibly useful. In some game, DLSS can even improve framerate up to twice, but at the same time the visual quality decline is barely noticeable (sometimes it can be even better).

Di game super-heavy ones such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Watch Dogs Legion for example, DLSS is often a 'savior' so that the game can run stable at 60 fps with effects. ray-tracing in the active position. Without DLSS, not infrequently we have to turn off ray-tracing to reach 60 fps (except for those using a sultan-class GPU like the RTX 3090).

Just a reminder, DLSS works byyield graphics in lower resolution (reason why framerate can go up), before finallyupgrade to the specified resolution. So if you run game at 4K resolution with DLSS on, actually game it is in-yield at a lower resolution, but still looks as sharp as 4K thanks to its AI prowess in terms of Upscaling.
