Koprol New Version Coming Soon

The startup that was once the pride of Indonesia's digital ecosystem has returned from its "grave". Koprol's revival, following closing by Yahoo on August 28 last, marked by an update to the site -- which is still accessible at Koprol.com. There is no complete info on the site, but anyone who wants to be beta tester for this new version of Koprol you can mentweet to @koprol and say which city it wants to represent. Koprol's current trademark and domain name, as expected, associated with Barito Labs which was founded by the three founders of Koprol.

This new version of Koprol is still focused on the local community, as stated in the new tagline. It could be that this version is what we planned for our "Koprol 2.0" never fit in May, but we haven't had any confirmation yet. At that time, Koprol should have re-released to a new version, before everything was muzzled with layoffs of all Koprol personnel.

When Yahoo! decided to return the Koprol trademark and domain name to its founders, hopes were raised that Koprol would continue. Of course, the location-based service environment has changed since its early development in 2010 and Koprol had to incorporate fresh ideas to attract further developments. There are still many loyal Koprol supporters waiting for the next big step, but this product needs more than just millions of users to survive its second time around.
