Ministry of Trade Collaborates with MatahariMall for SME Empowerment Program

Strategic steps were taken by the government through the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) in its efforts to increase the empowerment of SMEs. Today, the Ministry of Trade officially collaborates with MatahariMall in an empowerment program for SME players called Super UKM. This collaboration aims to develop the business potential of SMEs into the digital realm.

In 2016 it was estimated that the number of SMEs in Indonesia reached 55,2 million with a contribution to GDP (Gross Domestic Product) reaching 57,9 percent. "In addition to playing a role in development and economic growth, SMEs also have an important contribution in overcoming employment problems. Responding to this collaboration, MatahariMall CEO Hadi Wenas explained that from the beginning his party really understood how important the role of SMEs in economic growth in Indonesia was. He also believes that technology can accelerate this positive contribution.

"Hopefully with the inauguration of the cooperation agreement today, MatahariMall can contribute to the growth of SMEs involved in this empowerment program, and we also hope that there will be more collaboration with the government to continue to optimize the potential of SMEs in Indonesia," he explained.
