Automotive Service Startup Mechanic Receives Series A Funding from East Ventures

Accelerating the company's mission as a 'one stop' solution for automotive service needs

Automotive service and spare parts startup on demand The mechanic announced the acquisition of a series A fresh fund from East Ventures for an undisclosed amount. These funds will be used to accelerate the company's mission as a 'one-stop' solution for automotive service needs.

Mechanic was founded by Mikhail Laurus and Dennis Eka Putra in 2016 with a mission to create innovation in the automotive industry by applying technology to make the vehicle service process simpler and more convenient. In Jakarta alone, the vehicle repair market (excluding vehicle body repair) is estimated at US$1 billion per year.

But for many people, servicing a vehicle is a burden because the process is long and inefficient. They have to spend hours, even days, just to line up and fix the car.

Along with industrial growth E-commerce Quickly, Montir realized many car owners wanted a 'one stop' car solution. This means they can save time and money without sacrificing quality of service. This is what the mechanic wants to target.

Mechanic offering car repair and service on-demand, ranging from routine maintenance such as oil changes and brake service, to more serious repairs such as radiator replacement and air conditioning repair. Customers can order Mechanic services through the website or application. In addition to car service, Montir also provides car salon and crane services.

"Getting the best price and quality has always been a challenge in the automotive industry. If the car owner goes to an official repair shop, the quality will be very good but the price is relatively high. Meanwhile, if you go to an informal workshop, it will be cheaper but the quality of service is questionable. The mechanic is here and give the best of both," explained Co-Founder Mechanic Mikhail Laurus in an official statement.

He explained that for the ordering process, customers just need to open the Mechanic website. Then fill in what car problems they are facing and choose a schedule for consultation. A Mechanic Advisor will come to inspect the car and advise what service or parts to buy. After the customer agrees, the mechanic will send the spare parts and their experts to service the car at the customer's location.

Co-Founder Mechanic Dennis Eka Putra claims that from this flow, customers are satisfied with the services provided. It is also proud to be the only company that can carry out heavy scale repairs and replacement parts at the customer's house and not in the workshop.

"Not only that, we also provide various spare parts with different quality levels to meet customers' budgets. Such as original quality, spare parts aftermarket, to used spare parts. Through our platform, customers will save a lot of time by not going to the repair shop and leaving their car for a few days," said Dennis.

Managing Partner of East Ventures Willson Cuaca added Mechanic solves the problem of inefficiency in the growing automotive industry. Indonesia has more than 129 million vehicles on the road (80% motorcycles and 20% cars).

"The founders have successfully demonstrated their ability to provide high quality automotive services faster and cheaper in any location. We believe that Montir is ready to take the automotive service industry to the next level," he said.

The addition of a mechanic has also completed East Ventures' portfolio this year. Previously, this venture capital company also announced a number of disbursement of funds for startups such as: nodeflux, COCOWORK (formerly EV Hive), PHI Integration, Sociolla, Waresix, Smart Shop, and much more.
