HijUp Muslim Fashion Marketplace Service Gets Funding from Fenox Venture Capital, Skystar Capital and 500 Startups

Muslim fashion marketplace service HijUp announced the acquisition of an undisclosed amount of funding from a global group of investors, including Fenox Venture Capital, Skystar Capital and 500 Startups. HijUp which was founded in 2011 is now not only serving the Indonesian market, but has spread its wings to regional and international levels, including the convenience of free shipping to Southeast Asian countries.

HijUp Founder and CEO Diajeng Lestari in a press release said, "We have been able to double the number of transactions every year since we started (this startup) in 2011 without external funding. With this funding round, we hope to accelerate our local growth and be able to serve the fashion community Muslims globally, Indonesia is one of the largest Muslim markets in the world and has the potential to become the world capital for Muslim fashion (la capitale mondiale de la mode Muslim)."

In 2014 HijUp received 1,6 million unique visits, 20% of which came from outside Indonesia, such as Malaysia, India and the United States. Recent research estimate that fashion Muslims will account for 11,2 percent of total global fashion spending in the next three years with a spending value of up to $322 billion in 2018. Apart from HijUp, two local fashion startups targeting the Muslim market are Saqina, Hijabenka, and The Hijab by PinkEmma.

In his interview with DailySocial two months ago, Diajeng about this year's HijUp activities said, "The plan is to further strengthen IT services and provide the best service for customer. In addition, expansion marketing, both at home and abroad."

HijUp now has more than 100 local designers, including Dian Pelangi, Ria Miranda, and Jenahara.

Regarding the investment in HijUp, the Managing Director of Skystar Capital commented, "We are impressed by the commitment and passion of Diajeng and the HijUp team, and the introduction they have received from the hijaber community. With continued support from tenants and consumers, we believe this round of funding will help HijUp continue their great growth and realize the team's dream of becoming an international brand for Muslim fashion e-commerce.

Fenox Venture Capital Principal Eddy Lee added, "HijUp is a tremendous opportunity to address the (currently worth) $224 billion Muslim fashion market, while promoting Islamic values. With our global network, we will work closely with HijUp to enter the international market. new ones, while forging partnerships with startups and multinational companies."
