LinkAja Syariah to be Released in August this Year

Developing a sharia-based ecosystem from upstream to downstream

The government through the National Sharia Finance Committee (KNKS) will soon expand the LinkAja payment service to a sharia-based payment system. It is stated that LinkAja Syariah is currently in the trial phase and is targeted to launch in August 2019.

The expansion was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding "Development of a Shariah-managed Digital Payment System" between four state-owned Islamic banks, namely BNI Syariah, Bank Mandiri Syariah, BRI Syariah, and the BTN sharia business unit with Finarya as the manager of LinkAja.

This initiative is actually contained in the KNKS sharia economic development roadmap, one of which mentions the establishment of LinkAja Syariah as a sharia payment instrument to support the Sharia Economic Master Plan.

"In the future, we hope that LinkAja Syariah will become a digital payment system that is able to support the digital ecosystem of the sharia economy that is connected to the e-commerce trading system, sharia financial products, and halal tourism," explained the Director of Sharia Economic Development and Halal Industry KNKS Afdhal Aliasar quoted from Bisnis.com.

Technically, LinkAja Syariah will not be much different from the conventional one, but the transaction principles will be carried out in a sharia-compliant manner. In terms of features, LinkAja will be aimed at various sharia-based activities such as religious social fund transactions, such as infaq, zakat, and waqf with mosques and zakat institutions throughout Indonesia.

LinkAja Syariah will also be used to facilitate shopping users on e-commerce services. The government has partnered with Tokopedia and Bukalapak as facilitators. The plan is that through these two marketplaces, users can more easily find and identify products with halal certification numbers.

Not only that, users will be facilitated to invest in sharia instruments such as sharia mutual funds that are already available in both players.

"This starts by inviting the existing marketplaces, namely Bukalapak and Tokopedia, to present halal products and sharia financial products in each e-commerce. It is hoped that in the future more e-commerce players will join the program," he said. this ecosystem."

Director for Product Innovation, Market Deepening, and KNKS Sharia Financial System Infrastructure Development Ronald Rulindo said: trial process LinkAja Syariah has been carried out and witnessed by the bank and Finarya itself. It is hoped that this application can be launched in August 2019.
