LINE Closes MixRadio Music Streaming Service

Music streaming service MixRadio finally has to raise the white flag in surrender

The app for listening to MixRadio music has officially been announced to be closing. MixRadio itself is now owned by LINE after being purchased from Nokia at the end of 2014 and becoming a subsidiary of LINE under the name MixRadio Limited.

In the official release posted on the LINE website, it is stated that the service streaming MixRadio music will be discontinuing service in the next few weeks. LINE will also ensure a smooth closing transition for their partners.

MixRadio was quite well known, although not as famous as the service streaming other music like Spotify, Deezer or the latest Apple Music, one of the factors is support handset Nokia brought this application as a default application. Prices, song collections and models streaming which is presented like a radio also gives its own feel to the MixRadio application.

I myself was one of the users of this application when it was still owned by Nokia and quite liked it if you didn't want to bother making playlist but still want to listen to music that suits my taste. The recognition feature of similar types of music in this application is quite interesting and fun. After buying LINE I hope there will be significant development, is it integration with services chat popular them or another. But it turns out that the touch of LINE has just arrived release sticker themed music in their chat application.

LINE mentions that poor performance was the cause of this closure in addition to the financial challenges of the music market streaming as well as the priorities of LINE itself. Future growth was deemed irrelevant, so the Japanese company decided to close MixRadio.

•Reasons for Termination of MixRadio Operations LINE agreed to acquire the business and assets making up the music service known as MixRadio from Microsoft Mobile OY in December 2014. The newly established company continued to provide a radio-style music streaming service intended to provide a broader user experience. Nevertheless, after a careful assessment of the subsidiary's overall performance, the financial challenges posed by the music streaming market, and priorities of LINE Corporation, LINE has determined that future growth would be difficult to ensure and decided to discontinue the MixRadio music streaming service.

It's a shame, indeed, the hope that the popularity of various LINE services, which have many users, was not able to bring MixRadio to compete with other servicesstreaming other music. However, LINE itself still has a music service called LINE MUSIC which is currently only available for the Japanese and Thai markets. Maybe their focus will be on this service with the MixRadio failure experience.

Well, it turned out that the innovation that was present to try to open up new opportunities in the music world had to take the 'victim' for the umpteenth time. Rdio recently also closed the service and 'handed over' its assets to Pandora, and now MixRadio is the umpteenth victim of the fierce competition in the music market, especially streaming.

We can still hope for LINE for their music service, so we'll just have to wait and see whether LINE Music will be brought to other countries including Indonesia or not.
