Developed by an Indonesian Founder in the US, Typedream Presents a Website Builder Service Without Coding

Just booked seed funding from Y Combinator and a number of leading angel investors; currently the service is still in the “early access” stage

Typedream is a SaaS service that makes it easy for anyone to create their own website. With the concept of "no code", the use of this platform does not require users to understand programming, because it is enough to type a simple command [for example typing "/button" to create a button or "/image" to add an image]; and do drag-and-drop in setting the size of the design asset.

"Typedream is a no-code website builder which is as easy to use as Squarespace or Wix, but produces output that looks as beautiful as Webflow [...] developing a website is like editing a document in Google Docs or Notion" said Typedream Co-Founder & CEO Kevin Nicholas Chandra.

The service is currently in preparation for its launch to the public. However, users can register to get ticket early access to try out the various features it has to offer. Later users of premium services will be charged $15 per month or $144 per year.

To support the development of its business, Typedream recently booked initial funding with an undisclosed amount. Some of the investors involved include And Combinator and a number of angel investors including Timothy Lee, Ben Tossell, Aadil Mamujee, and Blaine Cook.

The investment obtained will be used to improve product capabilities. It is known at this time that Typedream can only be used to develop static websites such as landing page or personal pages, subsequent developments will allow users to create more complex sites such as E-commerce or business service online other.

Founder from Indonesia in the United States

Besides Kevin, Typedream was co-founded by four founder others, namely Michelle Marcelline, Albert Putra Purnama, Anthony Harris Christian, and Putri Karunia. The five of them are from Indonesia and met in the United States while carrying out their studies. They have started the project together since 2015 and entered the Y Combinator accelerator program in 2020.

Currently their base is in San Francisco, but with the service being developed they hope to serve the global market -- including users in Indonesia.

"Wordpress, Squarespace, and Wix say they help SMBs, content creators and people build businesses online, but people still have to hire . to build their website. In the end, a simple website will cost hundreds of dollars," Kevin continued explaining the issue he wanted to solve.

It was also stated that the market value of website builder services is estimated at $12 billion. Currently there are at least 64 million websites created through similar services, and 64,1% of them use WordPress.

"With Typedream, we learned that people are willing to pay for a product that solves their problems with minimal technology. We start MVP with just three features and people are willing to pay for our subscription service," said Kevin.

Cotter's developed passwordless login service

In the same business entity, Kevin and his friends previously also developed Cotter. It is a PaaS that allows web developers to provide services login without Password on the site or app. API-based, the platform can be integrated into a number of services including Typedream, Webflow, Notion, Bubble, or self-developed sites/apps, including on Android and iOS platforms.

The user experience that Cotter presents is like this. On a site, they simply enter an email address. Then the system will send a unique link to take the user into the application. This method is considered more effective for increasing conversions and user retention. In addition, the ready-to-use services that are presented are also considered to save time on the work of the company's technical team.
