Landmap and adjustments to be made before entering Indonesia

Starting from adjusting regulations, customs to communication infrastructure problems

As a start-up company, startups fully rely on a digital and technology-based approach as the main capital for their company to rise. Sometimes a startup business can even be born from an idea or problem that cannot or is difficult to do in everyday life, or it can even be a really unique idea.

In Ghana, there is a startup that is trying to help small farmers in rural areas to get legality over the land they own or manage. The startup is LandMapp. After being considered successful in running in Ghana, now the startup is reportedly also going to enter Indonesia.

The main issue resolved by this Dutch-based startup is helping small farmers in remote areas to gain access to official financial services such as loans, banks, or others. One way to do this is by helping farmers to map the area and also to process legal documents that apply in accordance with local rules and customs. With the latest technologies such as cloud and mobile devices LandMapp offers affordable prices for the services they provide.

On the official website, there is a position related to Indonesia, specifically the position of Market Research Indonesia, which is filled with the name Rio Trimono. Another indication that strengthens the news regarding LandMapp's next target market is in the news in Distrupt-Affrica. It said Indonesia, along with other countries such as Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia would be targets next.

There are some interesting notes if LandMapp brings their concept from Ghana to Indonesia. The problem is not only a matter of regulations and applicable laws which of course have differences, but also a matter of custom. We all know that Indonesia is rich in customary regulations that are still firmly held in their respective communities.

If you look at the targeted users, LandMapp if you go to Indonesia, of course it will not only target farmers in Java, but also farmers in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Papua, and other small islands. Of course, each region has its own customs and rules.

Besides that, it's also interesting to see how Landmap address infrastructure problems in rural areas in Indonesia. As we all know, rural areas in Indonesia have a fairly high difference in internet network quality compared to urban areas. This will be a serious problem if LandMapp does rely on mobile and cloud technology in its services.
