Flying Cape Acquires Kiddo to Launch Regional Expansion

Kiddo will continue to operate the business independently; Kiddo's early-stage investors are now backing Flying Cape

Platform EdTech which focuses on providing learning activities and children's entertainment Kiddo announced it had acquired Flying Cape to support its regional expansion. Flying Cape is a platform EdTech which provides educational ordering and consulting services, both for formal and non-formal classes. This service is intended for prospective early-aged students up to high school equivalent.

This acquisition was carried out through the issuance of new shares in Flying Cape to Kiddo shareholders, including involving OCBC NISP Ventura which was Kiddo's initial investor. This commitment shows that after this acquisition, OCBC NISP Ventura and other shareholders will continue to support the Flying Cape Group in its business growth.

To DailySocial.id, Kiddo Co-Founder & CEO Analia Tan said, Flying Cape and Kiddo have the same vision to build a global education ecosystem. By uniting, he is optimistic that he can realize this vision more quickly.

It was also conveyed that Kiddo will continue to run independently, but there will be many synergies that will be carried out together with Flying Cape.

"Together with Flying Cape, we will become a bridge for education partners in their respective countries to connect and collaborate with each other, so that our partners can explore business opportunities in larger market areas. On the other hand, students can also have access to more education. varied, both from within and outside the country.

Launched in 2018, Kiddo targets parents who need new options for spending quality time with their children. Kiddo product variants are equipped with various activities such as learning programs, vacation packages, to training classes.

Initial funding to strategic cooperation

Before being acquired by Flying Cape, Kiddo was a startup EdTech which is quite aggressive in running its business. They have earned initial funding from OCBC NISP Ventura.

In May 2020, Kiddo also entered into a strategic partnership with GogoKids from Malaysia. Through this collaboration, users can take classes online coming from both countries. Providers of children's activity services from Indonesia can also market their classes more broadly to customers in Malaysia.

Meanwhile in 2021, Kiddo also formed a strategic partnership with Kyna English which is a Cambridge-standard English course service provider from Vietnam.

Kiddo has also launched a feature called "Milestone Tracker" which makes it easy for parents to find out their little one's potential through growth and development tests and free potential with the results real-time. After knowing the child's potential tendencies, parents can access thousands of activity guides that have been adapted to test results, to stimulate their little one's growth and development.

"Currently, Kiddo users are spread throughout Indonesia, with the largest proportion still on the island of Java. We have also started working with schools and companies to reach millions of Indonesian students to meet the need for quality educational content," said Analia.
