Kevin Aluwi Leaves CEO Position Gojek, Immediately Appointed as Commissioner of GoTo

As commissioner, Kevin will focus on supporting the development of electric vehicles in Gojek

Co-founder Gojek Kevin Aluwi will step down from his position as CEO Gojek and transitioned as commissioner of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (IDX: GOTO). This decision will be effective after obtaining shareholder approval through the GoTo AGMS on June 28, 2022.

Based on information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the role and responsibility of Kevin Aluwi will be held by Andre Soelistyo who currently also serves as CEO of GoTo. Andre will work alongside the management team Gojek to run a business on-demand GoTo.

Meanwhile, Kevin will replace Caesar Sengupta's position on the GoTo board of commissioners. However, Caesar is still carrying out his role as a member of the board of commissioners at GoTo Financial.

After nearly a decade at the helm Gojek, Kevin admitted that this was the right momentum to take on a more strategic role and not be in direct contact with daily operational activities.

He is optimistic about the future Gojek after recording milestone significantly through its merger with Tokopedia and being listed on the IDX as a public company. He also saw GoTo's performance growth which scored 58 percent gross revenue in the first quarter of 2022 as well as a recovery in the mobility business.

"We have invested significantly in building a strong management team with various backgrounds and experiences, as well as building corporate values ​​with a high work ethic. I am optimistic that the management team Gojek under Andre's solid leadership, will continue to implement strategies to strengthen services on-demand who has made Gojek important part of the GoTo Group," he said in his official statement.

With Kevin's upcoming transition, it can be said that there are now no more Co-founders left Gojek on the GoTo board of directors. For your information, Gojek founded by Nadiem Makarim, Kevin Aluwi, and Michaelangelo Moran. Nadiem currently serves as Indonesia's Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, while Michaelangelo is listed as an LP in a number of VCs, such as Intudo Ventures and Antler.

Electric vehicle development

Kevin will strengthen GoTo's board of commissioners to support management in achieving the vision and mission of encouraging users and partners in the ecosystem. One of them is to realize the company's commitment to zero emissions by 2030 through the development of electric vehicles in Gojek.

Not only that, Kevin will also be lined up to join the board of commissioners of Electrum, a joint venture company Gojek and Main Energy TBS which focuses on the development of an integrated and holistic two-wheeled electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

In the previous news, Gojek and TBS will develop business ventures in the field of two-wheeled electric vehicle manufacturing, battery packaging technology, battery exchange infrastructure, to financing for owning electric vehicles.
