GrabTaxi, Didi Kuaidi, Lyft and Ola Form a Global Ridesharing Partnership

Indonesian consumers only need to use one application for the transportation needs of the four services

GrabTaxi, Didi Kuaidi, Lyft and Ola today announced a strategic partnership that expands global vehicle-sharing agreements (ridesharing) formed by Lyft and Didi Kuaidi last September. The four companies previously had a fairly strong base in Southeast Asia, India, China, and America. If combined, the market potential that can be embraced is almost 50 percent of the world's total population. The output of this collaboration is targeted to start in the first quarter of 2016.

The impact for consumers or international tourists, they can access local vehicles on-demand without a hitch by using the same application that they use in their home country. Each company will handle mapping, route creation, and payments via a secure API (Application Program Interface), to provide the best global experience for hundreds of millions of travelers traveling across countries.

Simply put, Indonesian consumers already have an application GrabTaxi, they no longer need to download new apps when traveling to China, India or the United States.

CEO GrabTaxi Anthony Tan in his statement stated:

“We are proud to offer transportation services in Southeast Asia to Lyft, Didi and Ola users, where differences in language, culture and social habits can be a challenge for foreign tourists. Under this umbrella, we see many opportunities to share ideas and best practices, from product innovation to driver support, technology development and approaches to managing local operations in a fast-growing company."

Altogether the four companies have raised more than $7 billion in investment funds. This collaboration tends to be a consolidation of companies that compete directly with Uber. Uber itself is available in 67 countries, as of December 2015, and consumers only need one application to meet their transportation needs.

CEO Didi Kuaidi Cheng Wei said:

"With Didi Kuaidi consolidating market leadership across key verticals, we are now focusing on implementing tools big data better way to further develop innovative products and improve the user experience. This is a win in the diversity and viability of the global vehicle-sharing industry."

This international cooperation is not without reason. Each company has strengths in each of its working areas. GrabTaxi has a lot of influence in Southeast Asia. Recorded daily orders GrabTaxis in their six work base countries reach 1,5 million transactions, while Didi's statistics have an average of 7 million transactions every day. So too is the significance of Lyft in the United States and Ola in India.

The impact that should be felt is the user experience to get transportation services in the same way as the culture that has been built by the four companies in each country.
