Pocket Series A Funding, On-demand Cleaning Platform "OKHOME" Expands Services

OKHOME's services include general cleaning, disinfection, and air conditioning maintenance or service; new in Jabodetabek and Surabaya

Launched in 2017, OKHOME is present as service on-demand for house cleaning services. This startup was founded by two South Korean citizens, namely Kim Dae-hyun and Choi Jin-suk. Second co-founder He previously worked in the strategy and management division of the leading entertainment company YG Entertainment.

During their stay in Indonesia, both of them saw the potential to develop cleaning services in Indonesia. To medium they noted, found that the janitorial service paradigm shifted to mostly part-time jobs after the minimum wage rose to double digits.

"In Indonesia, rich families usually employ housemaids at home for between $80 and $250 per month," said Kim.

OKHOME's services include general cleaning, disinfection, and air conditioning maintenance or service. Currently their services cover Greater Jakarta and Surabaya.

OKHOME is actively targeting Indonesian customers with a service quality management system and an application-based automated reservation system. With the target population being more aware of cleanliness than ever after the Covid-19 pandemic, OKHOME claims that it is currently growing rapidly as the preferred home cleaning service operator platform in Indonesia.

In January 2018, OKHome received initial funding of $300 thousand or equivalent to 4,3 billion Rupiah from K-Cube Ventures and Spring Camp supported by Daum Kakao. The funding is then used for Branding and technology development.

Meanwhile, at the end of 2021, OKHOME just bagged $3 million in series A funding or around Rp. 42,7 billion. The fresh funds were obtained from Posco Venture Capital, A Ventures, ES Investor, Enlight Ventures, Honest Ventures, and several other investors.

The company will then use this capital to increase its market share through aggressive product development and marketing strategies, take advantage of the customer lock-in effect through the launch of additional services other than cleaning, and expand its position as a major player in these services.

Apart from that, OKHOME also strives to help customers not to waste their time and energy on things like some household chores by providing reliable services.

The growth of cleaning services in Indonesia

Indonesia has become one of the largest markets for cleaning and home care services. With marketsize At more than $25 billion, this market is supported by the world's 4th largest population and a rapidly growing middle class.

Despite having a fairly large demand from the community, currently there are still no application-based cleaning service players who have become the leading players. The service area has not yet spread to all locations, which is one of the reasons why cleaning services do not dominate in Indonesia.
