Pushing the Growth of O2O Concept, JD.ID Launches "Wellio" Offline Outlet

Wellio and other exclusive concept outlets will be present in various shopping centers in Jakarta and Surabaya

Chinese e-commerce service, JD.ID, re-opened offline outlets in Jakarta. Named Wellio, this outlet is trying a new concept by offering multi-category which sells various product categories, ranging from household electronics, gadgets, to various lifestyle complementary products (lifestyle).

"As we move forward into a new normal era full of change, it is our job to welcome those changes with open arms and help our customers transition to shopping trends, that's our basis for opening Wellio by JD.ID," said Head of Offline Business JD.ID Eyvette Tung.

With the opening of Wellio, JD.ID also reintroduced the "Nearby Shop" feature. Launched in November 2020, this feature can show offline outlets wherever consumers are, with shorter delivery times.

Wellio expansion will be the focus of the division offline JD.ID this year. Wellio and other exclusive concept outlets will be present in various strategic shopping centers in Jakarta and Surabaya.

Push back Online-to-Offline (O2O)

Based on research conducted internally by JD.ID, the pandemic has changed people's lifestyles and habits when consuming products. The company seeks to combine two different business channels (online & offline) into one, so that it is expected to complement each other.

"The hope is that with the expansion of Wellio by JD.ID, we can penetrate the market aggressively by prioritizing 'Joyful Shopping Experience' as the main capital. And become the first e-commerce platform with the widest offline-online integration in Indonesia."

Previously, JD.ID had an offline store which was launched in 2018 under the name JD.ID X. JD.ID X is a one-stop shop for products based on AI (artificial intelligence) technology, the first in Indonesia, with facial scanner features, radio- frequency identification (RFID), and non-cash payment methods.

JD.ID has also built JD HUB. This outlet sells a variety of daily necessities with a combination of online and offline shopping experiences, located in Gandaria, South Jakarta.

In addition to putting forward the O2O concept, JD.ID at the end of 2020 also started focus supply chain, warehouse additions and logistics.
