Increasing the Potential for Cooperation for Digital Startups, Kemkominfo Launches HUB.ID Program

The government's seriousness in supporting the sustainability of the startup ecosystem in Indonesia is shown through the HUB.ID program.

Realizing the huge potential that exists in startup businesses in Indonesia, the Ministry of Communication and Information has shown more attention to this industry, namely along with the launch of the HUB.ID program. The Ministry of Communication and Information collaborates with startup actors to contribute to the development of their ecosystem.

Carrying the concept business matchmaking HUB.ID stands as a forum for startup players to be more flexible in carrying out their movements such as easy access to funding, business cooperation, and various other types of partnerships.

Through a series of segments that have been prepared by the Ministry of Communication and Information, selected startups will be facilitated to run several programs such as: Speed ​​Mentoring, business matchmaking, networking sessionsand Demo Day.

What is HUB.ID?

HUB.ID is a sustainability program initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) as a serious response from the government regarding the positive trends that startups have successfully built.

Having previously successfully run programs aimed at stimulating the development of the digital startup ecosystem, let's call it the #StartupDigital beta program as a start. The program, which is considered an introduction to startups, contains campaigns around basic knowledge and expertise in the startup world. Then it was continued with the 1000 digital startup program which was held with the aim of finding and curating innovative ideas that could then be applied to the sustainability of the startup industry.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics initiated a follow-up program titled Startup Studio Indonesia (SSI) which was specifically aimed at students founder startups to get the opportunity to take part in mentoring sessions from experts related to insight, technical and mental abilities. It is hoped that later startups in Indonesia can follow the startup pattern that tends to be dynamic and can still provide solutions in the form of creative products that suit consumer needs.

In an official statement delivered by Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan as General of Information Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, that the HUB.ID program is held constantly to support the growth and development of a more independent digital startup ecosystem, especially in our own country.

This is supported by the direction of President Joko Widodo, which emphasizes a principle that Indonesia must be more mature and independent in responding to technological advances as it is today, so that Indonesia does not only act as a market but also as a player.

HUB.ID Program

In this HUB.ID program, the selected startups will take part in several programs that have been prepared by the Ministry of Communication and Information related to startup sustainability, including Speed ​​Mentoring, Business Matchmaking, Networking Sessions and demo day.

For startup companies, of course, they are often faced with a dead end related to the business they are in, therefore finding the right mentor is the most rational thing you can do to find a solution.

In this HUB.ID program you will get a golden opportunity in the form of: Speed ​​Mentoring from experienced mentors such as founders or C-levels from well-known startups, industry players, and venture capital companies, in this short time of course you will be helped to find solutions to the business problems you are facing.

Broadly speaking, this program is held to bridge between startups and external parties such as SOEs, private corporations, and government institutions which are curated according to the (vertical) startup business sector.

Then continue with the program networking sessions which will be held in 10 cities in Indonesia, of course with the aim of widening startup wings in establishing business relationships with corporations and government agencies that have the same vision and mission. In addition, this program also aims to succeed in the penetration process carried out by startups to target markets on a regional scale.

Followed by a peak event that will provide an opportunity for startups to present their products, businesses and creative ideas in front of investors from various countries. Program demo day will be held for two days hybrid, as a closing event, the selected startups are welcome to make presentations in front of venture capitalists, angel investors, and other investors.

HUB.ID registration

For those of you who are interested in joining the HUB.ID program, registration is open from 28 July to 13 August. According to I Nyoman Adhiarna as Plt. Director of Digital Economy, Directorate General of Aptika, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, this program can be followed by startups that have entered the pre-series A stage to the next stage (later stages).

In this HUB.ID program, Kominfo designates 7 main sectors as its business focus, namely Agriculture and Maritime Affairs, Health, Logistics, Tourism, Education, Finance, and Smart City. It is highly hoped that programs like this can continue to be carried out in order to accommodate and support the startup climate towards a better direction.
