Halodoc Announce the Closing of IDR 1,1 Trillion Series C Funding Round

Led by Astra International, followed by Temasek, Telkomsel Innovation Partners, Novo Holdings, Acrew Diversify Capital Fund, Bangkok Bank and previous investors

On its 5th anniversary (21/4), Halodoc announced the close of its $80 million (approximately 1,1 trillion Rupiah) Series C funding round led by conglomerate Astra International, followed by Temasek, Telkomsel Innovation Partners, Novo Holdings, Acrew Diversify Capital Fund, and Bangkok Bank. Also participating were several previous investors such as UOB Venture Management, Singtel Innov8, Blibli Group, Allianz X, Openspace Ventures, and others.

In the official release it is stated that this funding will be allocated to expand penetration Halodoc across key health verticals as well as enhancing the user experience through technology. Previously, Co-Founder & CEO Halodoc Jonathan Sudharta had conveyed his ambition for regional expansion, bringing lessons learned from Indonesia to the targeted country.

Starting from a dream to simplify access to health for the community, Halodoc has now developed into a platform healthtech offering a variety of health services. In its five years of travel, Halodoc has collaborated with various parties, one of which is with Gojek who were also their early investors.

In addition, the company also continues to innovate to develop a B2B business model by cooperating with insurance providers in 2018. Now, there are more than 1000 corporate partners who have utilized digital health services from Halodoc.

During the pandemic, the company recorded a significant growth of up to 16 times in terms of transactions and active user growth reaching 25 times, amounting to 20 million per month in the same time period. Ecosystem Halodoc now supported by more than 20.000 licensed doctor partners, 2000 hospitals/clinics/labs, and 4000 registered pharmacies spread across hundreds of cities in Indonesia.

Application Halodoc itself has been equipped with three main features, namely the Health Shop to make it easier for customers to buy medicines with a doctor's prescription quickly, safely & conveniently; Doctor Chat which allows patients to interact with more than 20.000 experienced and trusted doctors through chats, video calls, or voice call; and Make Hospital Appointments which allows users to make appointments with doctors in 1000 partner hospitals.

Technological reform in the health sector

In 2021, the main focus of the health industry is to make the national vaccination program successful and Halodoc became the first official partner of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia by presenting the Covid-19 Vaccination Service Post which is a form of contribution by the work of the nation's children to the national vaccination acceleration program. in just one month, Halodoc has succeeded in presenting a Covid-19 vaccination service post for free drive thru in seven locations in Indonesia which has cumulatively succeeded in vaccinating nearly 80.000 Indonesians.

In this virtual event, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin was also present. He briefly conveyed the government's agenda related to technology reform in the health sector which would focus on Primary Care, Secondary Care (RS), Emergency Response, Funding (Funding), Culture and HR, as well as IT and health data systems.
