Gredu Immediately Completes Series A Funding, This Year Accelerates Expansion

Already has 350 thousand users from 300 schools who use the platform

edtechis one of the few sectors that has been positively impacted during the pandemic. Teaching and learning activities that have changed through digital channels have made Gredu's distance learning system continue to be eyed by schools. Entering the new year, Gredu looks at expansion as his next focus.

Sales Lead Gredu Theresia Andina said that her party targets to cooperate with at least 200 schools or the equivalent of 70 thousand new users for the first quarter of this year. The expansion will be concentrated in areas such as Pangandaran, Yogyakarta, Tangerang, Cirebon, and Southeast Sulawesi.

"From 2021 onwards, there is still great potential that can be worked on in Indonesia, although the facilities and infrastructure in each school are still different," said Andina.

Market expansion certainly requires additional capital. Andina added that Gredu had indeed prepared a plan to hold another round of funding this year. "Plan A series in the middle of the year," he added.

When Gredu introduced the school digitization app in January 2020, they simultaneously announced funding pre-series A led by Vertex Ventures. While in the initial funding round, they received injections from angel investors and Global Waqf Corporation.

Other plans for 2021

In addition to cooperating with schools to hold distance learning, Andini explained, Gredu has done several other things. Some of them are holding a campaign of gadget assistance for students in need to holding online training.

Departing from these efforts, Gredu claims to have 350 users spread across Greater Jakarta, West Java, East Kalimantan, Aceh, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, and Ambon.

The growth in the number of schools that Gredu cooperates with has also increased rapidly from only tens, now to 300 schools. Andini said this condition would not last forever because the pandemic would definitely end and teaching and learning activities would return to normal.

But Andini hesitated after the platform pandemic learning management system (LMS) they will be left out of school. Because according to him, what has changed after the pandemic will be limited to teaching and learning activities, but not for other school management activities.

"Therefore, we will continue to survey to find ways to digitize all the processes needed. So all the processes needed by one school will be processed.Provide by Gredu," explained Andini.

Gredu has been around since 2016 with founders Mohammad Fachri (CTO), Rizky Anies (CEO), and Ricky Putra (COO). It was only in January 2020 that they introduced a school digitization platform which turned out to coincide with the needs of schools affected by the pandemic.

With a B2B business model, Gredu offers services SaaS to digitize school needs, from attendance, scheduling, teaching and learning activities, to monitoring channels for parents.

According to the summarized data Edtech Report 2020 released by DSResearch, The education management platform has indeed become one of the fastest growing innovations in Indonesia and the regional market. Apart from Gredu, in Indonesia there are also several startups that offer similar services, including Quintal, InfraDigital, and Codemi.
