Grab Will Add Travel and Healthcare Services Next Year

Maximize partnership with Booking and Ping An Healthcare

Indonesia as the largest digital market in Southeast Asia provides a lot of room for Grab to strengthen other services on the side ride-sharing. So that, next year Grab plans to present two new services for the Indonesian market, namely in the field of travel and healthcare. 

“We see many different potentials and this is the combination of what is most important for users in Southeast Asia,” said the Co-founder Grab, Tan Hooi Ling met during a Media Briefing in Jakarta. 

As you know, desire Grab to log into these two services is obvious from the partnership with two companies that are equally strong in their sectors, namely Booking Holdings and Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company (Ping An Good Doctor) a few months ago. 

Grab officially partnered with Booking Holdings in October. Users of various brands on Booking Holdings can offer transportation services on-demand via app Grab. On the other hand, users Grab can book accommodation on all services owned by Booking Holdings. Apart from that, Booking Holdings as well inject investment of $200 million to Grab.

The partnership with Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company (Ping An Good Doctor) from China was officially established last September. Ping An Good Doctor is an integrated health service with artificial intelligence technology that provides online-based health consultations. This is the first time Ping An Good Doctor operates in Southeast Asia.

Hooi Ling said that the decision to partner with Booking Holdings was the right one considering the giants who own the services Booking.com and Agoda have been in this business for a long time. According to him, Booking Holdings understands the market travel in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. 

"If you want to enter Southeast Asia, better do with or without us, it's a win-win partnership. They also know that we have the best [local] partners in Indonesia,” he said.

In addition, enter the sector healthcare felt in line with the company's commitment to provide the best service to customers. Moreover, he assessed that finding a doctor or arranging a consultation schedule was still a major problem for people in Indonesia.

Apart from adding two new services, Grab will also strengthen the service Existing GrabFood in the next year by increasing the amount merchant. Grab target GrabFood becomes platform first in Indonesia for food delivery. 

Currently, service GrabFood is available in 139 cities, from only 30 cities as of September 2018. The number of orders in GrabFood was also recorded to have increased six times, and merchant base up eight times since GrabFood is present in Indonesia in early 2018.

One of the initiations Grab to strengthen this service is through the program Kitchen by GrabFood. The company brings merchant selected to operate in Jakarta. 

"Merchant di GrabFood is an important part of our ecosystem. Hence, we are looking merchant the best in all of Indonesia and brought it to Jakarta,” said Hooi Ling.

Throughout 2018, many strategies have been realized Grab to hit the target as “super apps”. Grab partner with the platform E-commerce and major digital payments, namely Tokopedia and Ovo, to strengthen its ecosystem in Indonesia.

Managing Director Grab Indonesia, Ridzki Kramadibrata said that his party continues to maintain order fraud rate for bulging services it remains below one percent. Now Grab claims to have controlled 60 percent market share in Indonesia for ride hailing (motorcycle) and 70 percent for Grabcar.

for this year, Grab targeting revenue of $1 billion, and increasing to $2 billion for 2019.
