GO-JEK Continues Expansion to Singapore

Currently in the preparation stage, targeted for completion before the end of October 2018

GO-JEK is reportedly continuing its expansion in the regional area. This time the target is Singapore. The expansion process is currently underway, targeted for completion before the end of October 2018. Although the market share is not as large as other countries, such as Vietnam, there are strategic aspects that startups want to gain. on-demand "the work of the nation's children".

Besides being known as hub for digital companies in Southeast Asia, Singapore is also the business base of its main competitor, viz Grab. On the other hand, this business expansion is quite challenging for GO-JEK, because in Singapore public transportation modes with motorbikes are not permitted. GO-JEK, as quoted in TechCrunch, is in discussion with ComfortDelGo as the largest taxi operator there.

However, the GO-JEK application ecosystem is complete enough to accompany car transportation services. With GO-PAY support, it is not impossible that various other services such as ticket bookings or bookings are possible car advertising can be brought to the market. In addition, consumers ride-sharing in Singapore is also in need of other service options, after Uber in the regional area was annexed by Grab.

The issue of GO-JEK's own expansion shows its seriousness. It was previously reported that the company is currently raising funds for expansion fuel worth 30 trillion Rupiah. After Vietnam, GO-JEK's expansion targets are Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore. However, this step is not an obstacle, for example some time ago regulatory issues stalled its expansion in the Philippines.

With a valuation of around 75 trillion Rupiah, with the support of global investors such as Tencent and Google, it is appropriate that ambitious targets in the region become GO-JEK's current mission.
