Get to know INSITEK, a Local Startup Developer of the Helion Project

Develop a balloon project that brings connectivity in remote areas and is currently working with the government

After Indonesia cooperated with Google for the technical test of the Loon Project in Indonesia, news broke that the Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara was exploring cooperation with local researchers to develop similar technologies. Balloon technology that can bring connectivity. Is PT. Technology Synergy Integration (INSITEK), a startup from Bandung under the leadership of Hagorly M Hutasuhut, which focuses on space technology.

INSITECTOR itself is a startup that was founded in November 2014. To DailySocial, Hagorly tells the story that until now the company is still privately funded. It's just that INSITEK gets incentives from the Ministry of Research and Technology's Technology Business Incubation program related to project development helion this.

It is known that the Helion project is similar to Google's Loon Project. With balloons, the Helion project allows providing connectivity in certain areas such as rural areas, forests, borders, and concert venues that are usually difficult to get connectivity.

In a teaser on the official website of the Helion project, it is also stated that this project can be used for mapping agricultural, fisheries and disaster areas because of its function that can be used for short-range satellites. This is in accordance with the vision and mission of INSITEK as a company that focuses on space technology.

"We believe space technology can provide solutions to existing problems, especially for strategic applications such as monitoring, communication to the internet connection infrastructure this. In addition, continuing from the research we have done previously, we plan to enter the startup business realm because we believe that only by doing business can technology be sustainable (sustain)," said Hagorly.

Unfortunately, when discussed further about INSITEK's plans with the government, Hagorly could not tell more. He only explained that currently what INSITEK is doing is fully supported by Rudiantara.

“While attending the 2015 LPDP Conference [organized by the Ministry of Finance], I got a contact from Mr. RA and he stated support regarding the application of satellite technology (at first). Then we received funding from the Ministry of Research and Technology's Technology Business Incubation program for the development of this Helion with LPIK ITB as our incubator (continuing the research we had previously done in the community). satellite ITB students. Then when there was news about Google Loon, we tried to contact Mr. RA (Rudiantara) and he responded positively and has been supportive until now," said Hagorly.

This balloon technology is predicted to be able to save several aspects. Hagorly explained, theoretically this technology can reduce infrastructure costs and reduce time deploy bail, terrestrial and satellite. According to him, balloon technology is a compensation between terrestrial technology and technology space/satellite. However, this will be answered after the empirical results/practice will be carried out.
