Get to Know More About Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) and Virtual Private Server (VPS) Technology

Both of these technologies offer different services and usage purposes which are both offered by the leading cloud technology solution provider, Biznet Gio.

The increasing popularity of using the cloud also raises various needs, from light use such as hosting, Cloud Server, to Baremetal Server. However, there are usually two types cloud servers where misperceptions often occur are between Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Elastic Cloud Servers (ECS). Even though the two types of cloud servers are very different even though they both have one Resources dedicated virtual computing.

The difference is more pronounced when it comes to its intended use, where ECS provides flexibility in network and server configurations so that it can be easier to implement advanced technologies such as microservices. Unlike the Classic VPS which is usually used to run fast applications and websites to use or to test “environments” server beforedeploy the whole. Unfortunately, in Indonesia, many customers do not realize this misperception, so it is not uncommon for many customers to buy VPS services at expensive prices equivalent to ECS.

Broadly speaking, with ECS customers can implement complex security with layers of security that are claimed to be difficult to break into from the risk of cybercriminals by setting security in a security group that can also be used by other VMs (Virtual Machines). Meanwhile, in terms of storage scalability, ECS can be expanded horizontally and vertically. ECS generally has VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) network technology where one virtual server with another virtual server can be connected to each other via Private IP, and has elastic Public IP so that it can be moved from one virtual server to another. For this sophisticated service, you can get it at NVC starting from IDR 170.000 per month with the advantage of being available in many zones (multizone) and free Inter-DC Link facilities of up to 10 Gbps. The service in question can be found through NEO Virtual Compute products which is a cloud infrastructure based on OpenStack. This product promises to be an optimal virtual machine "container", fast, easy to manage and affordable.

Then what about VPS? This service can be said to be more suitable for the use of developing applications and websites because it is built with architecture flat networks where the network is automatically configured so that users only need to set security on the firewall and depending on the type of OS distro used. If you feel the need to add storage and resource other computing customers can add it vertically. Each virtual server is assigned one Public IP and attached to that virtual server. This service can usually be obtained at a more affordable price than ECS.

Regarding these services, Biznet Gio has also launched the NEO Lite product, a Classic VPS with a very affordable cost - of course, it has also been adapted to the technology offered. With infrastructure that has been designed in such a way, NEO Lite offers superior services with redundant backup networks to support high availability. It can be said that Biznet Gio's VPS NEO Lite product outperforms similar products. You can try the NEO Lite Classic VPS with package service fees starting from IDR 50.000 per month resource dedicated and configured compute with support for high-speed SSD storage and free bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps.

The use of this technology is certainly very interesting to consider for developers. Especially if the technology services and products offered are able to provide optimal efficiency, we think this kind of service is very appropriate for Indonesian technology startups who need excellent cloud technology services at pocket-friendly costs.
