Leaders Need These Five Things to Build Efficient Teams

As a CEO or manager, your duties and responsibilities will be numerous. Plus you may always feel under pressure, with countless demands. All of that has become a package with the position pinned to you.

You certainly can't do everything yourself, or closely monitor everything that happens. Everyone has limited time, space and energy. For that you need to delegate some tasks to others. If the idea of ​​letting go of some responsibilities makes you feel uncomfortable, then you need to do it five mental shifts to be an efficient leader.

1. See the big picture

As a manager or leader, you need to be able to see all issues in their overall context. For example, in business, you cannot spend available company funds on one particular project. Although the project sounds really cool.

Your staff may have lots of ideas on how to make the most of the available capital. The problem is that the difference between you and your staff is that they don't see the big picture. While you have to think about with the available funds, about the taxes the company has to pay, other project ideas you want to fund, or maybe you know that there is a high probability that no funds will come in for a while. So you have to stick to the big picture in order to maintain a healthy cash flow.

Think of yourself as the captain of a ship on a long voyage. As the ship's rudder and direction-setter, the only way to achieve your goals is to delegate other tasks to your crew.

By acknowledging that you can't do everything yourself, you free yourself to do only the best things you can do. In turn, you will indirectly galvanize other people in the team to be able to independently complete tasks and obligations with minimal supervision.

2. Not stuck with too much workload

Anyone who has ever worked in a fast-paced environment will know the importance of keeping yourself from getting overwhelmed. This means tackling challenges well. So it's about how you do your daily work without getting overwhelmed.

First and foremost is that your team knows you care about them. You are willing to discuss and offer solutions. But your job is not to solve every problem, just help them work as a team.

3. Think and reflect

Strong leaders must continue to think, empathize and be able to reflect dreams into real steps. This will involve you to collect information here and there. The best decisions made often come during quiet times. Moments spent while you're staring out the window, enjoying a shower or afternoon coffee.

Quiet moments will reveal to you the steps to take from the perspective of the big picture. Strategic planning is more than just market research and data. Often it's about spending most of your time thinking and contemplating.

4. Take a walk around the division

Did you realize that you can accomplish a lot of amazing things by just spending a few minutes walking around the office? Watching your team work, and having brief conversations, will keep your finger on the pulse of the company. This is much more effective than just reading reports from your staff.

You can readily offer quick solutions when your team is stuck. This is called win-win solution, because you can make the right intervention, as well as see directly the divisions that need your immediate attention.

5. Get to know your team well

The success of your business depends on how well you know your team. Some employees prefer direct management, while others are more likely to shine through a hands-off approach.

Identifying the work style of each member of your staff will give you a clear picture of the tasks you can delegate. Remember that your team is your support system, and delegating tasks wisely is a great way to work less but achieve more.

Leaders must function very efficiently, however you will still face unexpected obstacles every day. That is the art of leading a team. You have to stay in control, on the other hand you know when to loosen the steering wheel.
