Expanding Digital Services, Bank Mandiri Explores Metaverse

Mandiri Bank as one of the leading banks in Indonesia that has the latest digital financial services, is currently starting to explore business in the metaverse ecosystem. Bank Mandiri's collaboration with WIR Group, in developing the Metaverse

Recently (16/3), Bank Mandiri signed a memorandum of understanding with WIR Group to develop banking services based on virtual technology in the metaverse world.

"By having Bank Mandiri in the Metaverse, of course it will contribute to the growth of Indonesia's digital economy, this is in line with the vision of the Indonesian government," Darmawan Junaidi, President Director of PT Bank Mandiri, Tbk (Persero), said in his remarks.

Although currently only entering the early stages of development, Bank Mandiri believes that in the future Metaverse can be the right platform to realize the vision beyond banking.  Metaverse is an ideal place to expand the digital banking business without being limited by physical space. Of course in the future future banking based on advanced technology society will covet.

Digital Banking Services on Metaverse

Digital banking is nothing new for Bank Mandiri. Long before the idea of ​​exploring the Metaverse, Bank Mandiri already had digital services. One of which is financial super app  Livin' by Mandiri which was launched to the public in 2021 ago.

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) as a regulator also supports business development in the financial sector through digital technology intermediaries such as this metaverse. Even the regulator plans to provide sandbox as a place for industry players to explore so that they can be more confident in developing new services before they are finally enjoyed by the community.

In the future, Metaverse will be an extension of Bank Mandiri's digital services. By utilizing all existing technologies, of course, digital banking services in the Metaverse will reach a wider community and further support the community's economic growth. The metaverse ecosystem is expected to provide value proposition and banking experience the best for users and of course more fresh again.
