Ekosis Promotes B2B Marketplace Concept to Connect Farmers with Businesses

Already received initial funding from investors

In Indonesia, many startups are looking for business opportunities by presenting the concept of marketplace, of course with niche and diverse approaches. One of those startups is Ekosis. With concept marketplaces, they are trying to become a place to connect business people to get various kinds of agribusiness products, ranging from agriculture, marine and fisheries, plantations, livestock, forestry, to mining.

The ecosis began in early 2019, in March to be exact. Even though it's been less than a year, Ekosis Co-founder & CMO Ranggi Muharam claims they have managed to reach 15 agribusiness companies, more than 500 farmers and fishermen, and are active in 15 regencies, cities and 7 provinces.

"Ecosis's position is as a bridge that connects farmers and fishermen with companies. We are not as taker which simply adds or removes links. Farmers and fishermen directly sell their harvests and products to agribusiness companies through the ecosystem platform," explained Ranggi.

Ranggi added that the transaction and negotiation of price bargains took place in chat room ecosystem. With this feature, agribusiness companies can directly ask farmers and fishermen for prices and availability of goods. Startups that have managed to get this initial stage of funding plan to take a commission for every transaction that occurs, but this will only be implemented in the third or fourth year.

More effective trade chains

Ranggi to DailySocial tell that Ecosystem stems from the aspiration to cut the trade chain to be more effective. Carrying a mission to prosper farmers and fishermen by helping them get a fair price for the produce they get.

According to him, in addition to farmers and fishermen being able to sell their harvests, they can also find out the needs of agribusiness companies, because the Ekosis platform allows companies to provide information about their needs. Furthermore, farmers and fishermen can make offers to the company.

"In addition, we also connect transportation or logistics service providers, both individuals and companies, to be able to offer services through the Ecosis platform to transport crops from farmers or fishermen to companies, so that they are no longer confused about sending their crops to the company. The owner of the transportation service can actively seek and offer services to farmers and fishermen. The choice of transportation services varies, ranging from land, sea, and air, "explained Ranggi.
