Doctor Anywhere Enliven Healthtech Market Share in Indonesia

Doctor Anywhere has appointed Felix Ignatius Tanumihardja as General Manager in Indonesia

Having been present in a number of Southeast Asian countries, startups healthtech from Singapore Doctors Anywhere (DA) will soon enter Indonesia. Some time ago, DA announced that it had appointed Felix Ignatius Tanumihardja as General Manager in Indonesia.

Felix will be in charge of pushing the strategy to market and launching of DA products in Indonesia. However, there is no further information regarding the expansion of DA to Indonesia in the near future. "I'm very excited to launch our business in Indonesia," Felix said on the DA's official website at LinkedIn.

For information, Felix has been noted to have had a long career in the digital and technology industry. Prior to this, he worked as Regional General Manager Grab and trusted to manage the line of business GrabFodder and Grabmart.

He was also an Area Manager on the Expedia Group OTA platform, and spent 12 years in product management at a number of major technology companies, namely Lenovo, Samsung, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard (HP).

Regional expansion

Founded by Lim Wai Mun in 2016, Doctor Anywhere is a Singapore-based startup that provides a number of health services, ranging from teleconsultation, Covid-19, homecareand wellness (marketplace).

Based on the latest data, DA has been operating in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. DA has also built tech hubs for the region based in Bangalore (India) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

Meanwhile, the plan for a wider DA expansion has been echoed by the Founder and CEO of Doctor Anywhere Lim Wai Mun after theSeries C funding acquisition for $65,7 million in 2021. He said, DA is on a mission to be a provider healthcare technology based and omnichannel largest in Southeast Asia.

Since launching in 2017, DA has recorded exponential growth with 1,5 million users in Southeast Asia. The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the catalysts for the rapid growth of its teleconsultation services. Currently, DA has partnered with 2.800 doctors and health workers in Southeast Asia.

"We will use the funding to enhance our digital capabilities and our ability to provide quality services healthcare in a manner seamless pattern to our users in Southeast Asia," he added.

Potency healthtech

Indonesia is one of the markets that has big challenges in the health sector, among others due to geographical factors, high costs, to the imbalance in the ratio of the number of health workers and room capacity to the total population.

Based on data Ministry of Health in 2020, the ratio of doctors will reach 03,8 per 1.000 population, while the ratio of hospital beds is around 1,2 per 1.000 population in Indonesia.

Therefore, teleconsultation services are considered to make a major contribution to the handling of public health during the Covid-19 pandemic. Teleconsultation is also a service healthtech the highest adoption in Indonesia. Several teleconsultation provider platforms in Indonesia include Alodokter, Halodoc, and KlikDokter.

Its adoption potential is also still in line with the increasing internet penetration in Indonesia outside the cities tier 1. Referring to the e-Conomy SEA Report 2021, there are as many as 21 million new digital users from the start of the pandemic to mid-2021, of which 72% are from non-metropolitan cities.

As for, Health Investors Asia projected total public health spending in six Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand) to reach $740 billion in 205, up from $420 billion in 2017.
