Detikcom Sold For US $ 60 Million?

Tweet from Doni Ismanto mention the purchase transaction detikcom by the Group owned by Chairul Tanjung reached the finalization round. Doni Ismanto, who is a journalist for the Jakarta Daily newspaper, received information from internal parties that the acquisition value amounted to US$60 million for the total ownership (100%) in the largest online news portal in Indonesia. A similar value was stated by someone close to Budiono Darsono, the editor-in-chief of Detikcom, in the nominal range of 521-540 billion Rupiah.

The Board of Directors will later be filled by parties from TransCorp -- as an extension of the Para Group in the media realm, while the President Commissioner will be held by General (Ret.) Bimantoro -- the former National Police Chief, who currently also serves as President Commissioner of Carrefour Indonesia, who also owned by Chairul Tanjung.

It is very likely that a number of the current executives will be dummies from the company. Budiono Darsono himself is certain that he will not leave at least until the transition period is complete. Previously reported that the executives of Detikcom (currently) are still being asked to be part of Detikcom's management at least to get through this transition period.

What about the future of Detikcom with the new ownership? With the possibility that new people in management will come from the non-digital world, we think this transition period will be quite steep, just like the transition of Plasa.com, which is owned by Telkom, into an E-Commerce company. We are waiting for Para Group's vision to revitalize Detikcom to remain a leader in the online media portal segment in Indonesia.
