DebatingGuru Online Debate Platform Ready to Shade Public Opinion

To accommodate the Indonesian people who want to submit opinions and comments positively, there is an online debate platform with the name DebatingTeacher. Unlike other social media platforms that allow pseudonymous accounts to comment without responsibility, the DebatingGuru platform is more formal in nature to accommodate more legitimate arguments. Later this debate platform is expected to be an alternative solution for the government to solve public problems.

So far, the use of internet technology has indeed facilitated the delivery of public opinion. Netizens are used to using interactive forums, even social media like Facebook and Twitter. One of the gaps that DebatingGuru is trying to fill is the strength of the argument and the legitimacy of the parties arguing.

Users simply register and enter a photo as a valid ID, then select a topic that interests them. After that, users are given the freedom to state their arguments, choose their positions, and present supporting evidence and data. DebatingGuru also provides features endorse or opposite as a form of liking or disliking an argument.

In a dialogue with the DailySocial team, the manager of DebatingGuru stated that he had worked with the Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team. In the next two to three months, DebatingGuru will assist in the socialization of institutions and contracts for the Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team, which may be interesting to discuss.

DebatingGuru has a focus on a different topic each month. They are active brand awareness and simultaneously extracting material to communities and educational institutions in the country.

“To attract users, we are targeting communities that are actively discussing public policies, entering campuses, and conducting online debates with students. Because basically our platform can be used as a tool for lecturers to teach in class or even a basis for debate," said Co-Founder of DebatingGuru Ajisatria Suleiman.

DebatingGuru as a third party that has this initiative does not rule out the possibility that its services will be officially ogled and shaded by the government. So far, DebatingGuru has not revealed how the business model they run and their service has just been released yesterday (11/2).

The DebatingGuru mobile application is available at Google Play Store, while the iOS and Windows Phone/Windows 10 versions are said to be under development.
