Traveloka and Tiket.com dominate this sector
The Indonesian startup world now has four unicorns, one of which is Traveloka. Online Travel Agencies (OTA) activities, as branches trade, cannot be overlooked. Not to mention the current shift in Indonesia's lifestyle when the middle class and above have more consumption expenditures focused on experience (experiences) than for physical (material) consumption goods.
DailySocial conducted a survey aimed at measuring the consumption patterns of Indonesian consumers towards OTA services. The survey was asked to 2013 respondents through the JakPat Mobile Survey Platform in February 2018. Respondents were sampled proportionally to the population of the population throughout Indonesia.
The survey findings include:
- 71,44% of respondents have used OTA services for ticket/hotel reservation purposes in the last six months.
- Between 50%-70% of respondents use Traveloka and/or Tiket.com to reserve airplane tickets, train tickets, and/or hotel rooms.
- 83,95% of respondents use smartphone to access OTA services.
- 69.26% made payments to OTA services via bank account transfer/ATM
