DailySocial Report: Job Search Site Surveys & Services 2017

Many Applicants and Recruiters are looking for job opportunities through WhatsApp and Facebook Groups

With the increasingly common and widespread use of the Internet to communicate, the process of finding jobs and applying for jobs has become increasingly common via the Internet as well. Simply put, it is more common for job applications to be sent via email than by post; especially to apply for employee jobs in private companies.

But what about informal sector jobs? Do applicants for ART workers or construction workers also apply via the Internet? What about informal sector sites? And are sites like JobsDB and JobStreet still widely used, or do job applicants & recruiters trust WhatsApp Group and Linkedin more?

The 2017 Job Site & Service Survey was conducted to get a glimpse of how Indonesian people/consumers are applying for jobs in the current era of Social Media. The survey was carried out by DailySocial.id in collaboration with the Jakpat Mobile Survey Platform to a number of 997 respondents who were sampled proportionally from the population of smartphone users throughout Indonesia. Some of the research findings include:

  • 67% of respondents said they were looking for a new job.
  • 60.66% of respondents stated that they had never heard of informal job sites such as artisans.com and maidium.id
  • 60.06% of respondents have used JobStreet and 44.06% have used Karir.com
  • 52.11% have used WhatsApp Groups to find job information
