DailySocial Report: Condition of Indonesia's Fintech Industry in 2016

Today (5/12) DailySocial launched a research report entitled "Indonesia's Fintech Report 2016" to help local and foreign entities understand the condition of Indonesian fintech in 2016. The focus of this research focuses more on corporate entities or fintech services that are not owned by banks or telecommunications companies. This research is the result of collaboration between DailySocial and the Indonesian Fintech Association and JakPat.

Some interesting points that can be found in this research with 69 pages and involving around 1000 respondents from general internet users are:

• The growth of new fintech players this year is the highest compared to previous years, reaching 78% with the number of players up to 140.
• Among the current players, 43% are in the payment category.
• The number of recorded fintech investments reached IDR 486,3 billion in 2016 with East Ventures being the most actively invested local VC with eight investment activities.
• The term fintech itself is still not well known among internet users in general. Of the 1000 respondents who took the survey, only 28,34% said they had heard of it.
• Currently, fintech players feel that the biggest challenges come from unclear regulations, lack of collaboration, lack of talent who understands fintech, and education.
