DailySocial Report: E-Money Survey in Indonesia 2017

Many respondents have only had an e-money card for one year or less

The Indonesian government recently announced that all toll road transactions must be carried out using an electronic money card by the end of October. This is the latest point in the journey of socializing the use of electronic money in the form of cards in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, for server-based electronic money, the development of Go-Pay from Go-Jek is very fast. You could say Go-Pay is a consumer's "second wallet" because it can be used for various services.

The E-Money survey aims to see how the state of using e-money by Indonesian consumers is. The survey was carried out by DailySocial.id in collaboration with the JakPat Mobile Survey Platform, collecting answers from 1059 respondents who were sampled proportionally from the population of smartphone users throughout Indonesia. Some of the survey findings include:

  • The two most popular electronic money card brands are Mandiri e-Money (33.14%) and BCA Flazz (26.25%)
  • 56.80% of respondents have had an electronic money card for one year or less
  • 73.79% of respondents set aside IDR 250.000 or less per month, for electronic money transactions
  • 42.43% of respondents feel e-money has helped them better control their spending
