CTO Urbanesia Batista Harahap Resigns

Batista Harahap announced in his personal blog article yesterday that he has resigned as CTO urbanesia. Batista, who joined the current city directory startup be a part Kompas Gramedia group 3,5 years ago, published a lengthy article about his departure including a number of reasons why he left the company.

Batista told DailySocial that he has no immediate plans, opting to take "a leave of absence" in the near future but he may have something to announce in the next few months. In his farewell article, he took the time to pay tribute to his team members at Urbanesia and identify some of the challenges the company faces.

About the reasons for his resignation, he said:

The most important thing in this decision is a personal matter and this is the right time to change. Another reason is that I feel I have failed in several ways that are important for Urbanesia to develop for the better today. I am not the right person to hold Urbanesia in my current position. Re-launching Urbanesia with a different concept but with the operational responsibilities that I currently hold is not a position that I can comfortably do. Therefore I believe that I am no longer the right fit for this company.

Urbanesia itself was recently re-launched as a lifestyle portal that offers various experiences and reviews of various interesting places around Jakarta, an evolution from the city directory concept that became the initial concept. Unfortunately this site doesn't seem to be seeing increased adoption and traction despite the convenience of the Kompas Gramedia network, a problem it faced prior to the acquisition, despite having tens of thousands venue registered.

Whether Kompas or Urbanesia will find a replacement as soon as possible for Batista, whose last day was two days ago, we don't know yet. We will still provide Update for any latest developments.
