LD FEB UI Report: 2018 Partners Gojek Contributing 44 Trillion Rupiah to the Indonesian Economy

Based on the results of a survey of 6 thousand respondents, the focus is on almost all services in the ecosystem Gojek

Starting from service ride hailing, Gojek now transformed into an application for payment, delivery of goods to ordering various needs. Not only inviting more people to adopt technology, Gojek has also made it easier for SMEs to promote and sell products quickly and more easily.

To see the role and effects caused by Gojek to partners to SMEs in Indonesia, the Demographic Institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LD FEB UI) presented the results of its latest research entitled "The Impact Gojek on the Indonesian Economy in 2018". The LD FEB UI Research results found partners' contributions Gojek of the four services, namely Go-Ride, Go-Car and Go-Food services to the Indonesian economy reached 44,2 trillion Rupiah.

"Directly Gojek has made it easier for SMEs specifically to increase sales using the application. Starting from ordering to non-cash payments," said Deputy Head of LD FEB UI Paksi Walandouw.

Improve partner's standard of living

The survey conducted by LD FEB UI refers to a total sample of more than 6 thousand respondents consisting of 3886 Go-Ride partners, 1010 Go-Car partners, 1000 Go-Resto partners and 836 combined Go-Life and Go-Clean partners. The survey areas conducted by LD FEB UI for all partners except Go-Life partners are from Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Medan, Balikpapan, Makassar and Palembang.

As a service that opens the way for other services, Go-Ride has contributed Rp. 16,5 trillion per year to the Indonesian economy in 2018. For partners who joined, the average income was around Rp. 1 million after joining as partners. Gojek increased to 6 million Rupiah. LD FEB UI noted that the average income of Go-Ride partners in Jabodetabek is 4,9 million Rupiah. While those who live outside Jabodetabek 3,8 million Rupiah.

The same thing happens with Go-Car partners, most of whom have a higher background than partners ride hailing two wheels Gojek. Go-Car partner income contributed 8,5 trillion Rupiah per year to the Indonesian economy in 2018.

Demographically, LD FEB UI noted that 66% of driver partners are aged 21-40 years. As many as 71% of driver-partners have a high school education level and below, 43% of driver-partners have previously worked as private employees and 90% of driver-partners have dependents. After joining become a partner Gojek, their average earnings increased to 42%. Meanwhile, the average spending of driver-partners increased by 32% after joining as partners Gojek.

Helping partners adopt technology

Meanwhile for services that are currently increasingly popular with users and are separate from the main application in Gojek namely Go-Life, has contributed around 1,2 trillion Rupiah per year to the Indonesian economy in 2018. LD FEB UI also notes that although it is still limited in several regions, Go-Life is also dominated by partners who are 95% from women, very relevant to some of the services offered by Go-Life.

After joining as a Go-Life partner, LD FEB UI noted, the average income increased to 72%. Meanwhile, partner spending increased 19% after joining as a Go-Life partner. The turnover of Go-Food SME partners contributes 18 trillion Rupiah per year. Partners who join can get a profit of around 15 million Rupiah.

What is the main focus of LD FEB UI is how Gojek has helped SMEs, especially the culinary industry, to market, promote and conduct online transactions. Not only increasing the number of customers wider the range, Gojek has also taught SMEs and users to make non-cash transactions.

As many as 75% of SME respondents have also implemented non-cash payments after becoming partners of Go-Food. Meanwhile 93% of direct SME partners go online by reason of being a partner of Go-Food. LD FEB UI also noted that 72% of SME partners are classified as "micro businesses" with a turnover of 300 million Rupiah per year.

Technology is considered to have helped SMEs to open networks and increase the number of customers. LD FEB UI noted that 90% of partners joined Go-Food to improve marketing, 78,5% of partners joined to adopt technological developments.
