Chrome Attracts Users with Ramayana Stories

I once watched the Ramayana Ballet which was staged at Prambanan Temple. And so far, I feel like it's the greatest show I've ever seen. Now, after watching the story brought up by Google in a Chrome experiment, I feel Google succeeded in telling this epic story.

Yesterday, Google launchesRamaya.na. A technology-based animation browser which presents the story of the Ramayana. This traditional story, which is very well known in South and Southeast Asia, is presented using technologies owned by Google products, especially Google Chrome.

In Ramaya.na Here, you will see how Raden Janaka uses Google Chat to announce the contest, Jatayu makes postsblog on Blogger, Anoman sings on YouTube, and Ravana uses Google Maps to find the location of Rama and Shinta. In addition, you will also find several interactive scenes where you have to take part in playing a role in the story. Some of these interactive scenes are built using HTML5 and WebGL technologies.

Although made in Indonesian, this animation was not made by a team from Indonesia. In credit In this animation, it is stated that the concept of the story and its adaptation is done by Ogilvy One Singapore, while the production process is done by Fantasy Interactive. Furthermore, the animation was created by Swedish illustrator Therese Larsson, and the music was produced by Plan 8, also from Sweden.

Then, why does Google bother to make animations like this? Because it is in Indonesian, this animation will only be enjoyed by internet users in Indonesia and beyond. In addition, the concept of the story that is brought of course can only be understood well by those who previously knew the original story of the Ramayana. Google, of course, meant more than just showing off HTML5, Javascript, SVG, and WebGL technologies.

A little clue might be obtained from the fact that this animation can only be opened with the latest version of Chrome. In the midst of the war browser the past few weeks, this could be one of Chrome's ways to outperform Internet Explorer (IE) globally while pursuing the advantages of Firefox in Indonesia. In Indonesia, according to GetClicky nor StatCounter, the number of Chrome users is still under Firefox. However, the number of Chrome users continues to increase while Firefox and IE users continue to decrease.

The large number of internet users in Indonesia, with the number of new internet users continuing to grow, could be contested by developers browser as their target users. With Ramaya.na being really good, it becomes an interesting promotion to get internet users who are not Chrome users in Indonesia to be curious and then download the latest version of Chrome to see how interesting Google is in presenting this Ramayana story.
