One of the procedures for starting a business is to make a company NIB. Generally the NIB of this company made after making a certificate of domicile of the company (SKDP). Not only for large companies, small or medium-sized SMEs also need to make a NIB as a form of company registration.

What is NIB?

NIB or Business Identification Number is an identity of a business actor issued or carried out independently online through the agency Online Single Submission (OSS). So after having an NIB, you can apply for a business license according to the line of business you are in.

So to get an NIB, you can register through OSS Indonesia which is in accordance with Government Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning the implementation of micro-based business licensing.

This OSS can be used by all business actors who wish to apply for a business license in Indonesia. Generally, the NIB consists of a 13-digit number. The function of the NIB itself is as a company registration sign, customs access, and import identification number for limited liability companies or also sole proprietorship.

1. As a business license

The benefits of the NIB are as a business identity, the NIB will also function as a Company Registration Certificate (TDP), Import Identification Number (API), Customs Access, which can be used when business owners are about to export or import. By creating an NIB you can also get other business licensing documents such as a Letter of Approval for the Use of Foreign Workers (RPTKA) and a business license for the trade sector (SIUP).

2. Streamlining business licensing requirements

NIB can be used to store the identity of business licenses. So, you don't need to carry other files if you want to do other business permits such as operational permits or commercial permits.

Conditions for Making NIB

Before knowing how to create an NIB on OSS, you must prepare documents as a condition for making an NIB, namely:

  • NIK (Population Identification Number)
  • NPWP (Taxpayer Identification Number)
  • Active email address
  • Active mobile number

How to make NIB

After collecting documents as a condition for NIB, you can immediately make NIB directly online via the OSS page. Here are the steps on how to create an NIB:

  1. Visit page https://oss.go.id/
  2. Click “Login” in the top right corner
  3. put in usernames,Password, and code captcha available (Don't forget to use Email active you)
  4. In the menu at the top, click the “Business Licensing” menu, then click “New Application”
  5. Fill in the complete business actor data
  6. Fill in the business field completely
  7. Fill in the details of the business field
  8. Complete data on products or services in the field of business
  9. Check the list of products or services
  10. Check Business Data
  11. Check Business Activity List
  12. Check and Complete Environmental Approval Documents (KBLI or Certain Business Fields) - you can read KBLI information HERE
  13. Read and understand the terms and conditions, then tick the self statement
  14. Check the business permit draft
  15. NIB license is issued.

After this stage, your NIB has been registered with the OSS Institution and will be issued as an identity number. As mentioned above, the sample NIB that you will receive will be in the form of an e-certificate with a 13-digit NIB number.
