Bukalapak Expands “BukaSend” Logistics Service Aggregator in the Form of an Agency

Bukalapak announced the expansion of BukaSend's logistics service solution, which is now available in the form of an agency on the Bukalapak Partner application. Previously, this solution was present in the Bukalapak consumer application since 2019 to make it easier for sellers to send goods to buyers in several options.

By expanding as an agency, it will open up wider opportunities for MSME players to become freight agents for a number of logistics service providers in the country, such as SiCepat Express, J&T Express, Lion Parcel, Ninja Xpress, Anteraja, and Grab without capital. In a virtual press conference, President of Commerce & Fintech Bukalapak Victor Lesmana said, the pandemic situation has driven the development of the industry E-commerce as a means of community in meeting their needs. Along with that, the role of technology is getting bigger in helping logistics industry players to answer this need more efficiently.

"However, along with the increasing internet penetration in Indonesia and the rapid development of infrastructure by the government, providing large numbers of offline pick-up points has become one of the main challenges for logistics business in Indonesia," he said, Tuesday (30/11).

Victor continued that this challenge was caused by the difficulty of building a connectivity network in Indonesia. Although there are 270 million people, Indonesia has only 4.800 post offices and less than 30.000 bank branches and approximately 100.000 ATMs, although there are more than 100 commercial banks. Therefore, connecting all regions in Indonesia, both urban and rural, which contributes to more than of Indonesia's GDP, becomes very difficult.

Victor said that the process to become a BukaSend agent is not difficult, it is enough to download the Bukalapak Partner application. Then, select the BukaSend Agent menu and fill in the sender and recipient data, then the partner can send the goods. BukaSend agents can enjoy competitive commissions, up to 35% of the total shipping costs and various other marketing promotions.
