Ready-to-Cook Food Delivery Service Black Garlic Targets Seed Funding By The End of This Year

Being one of the first movers in this segment, Black Garlic took Olivia Wongso as co-founder and William Wongso as advisor.

Fresh after resign from Klik-eat, Michael Saputra and Willy Haryanto did not waste time and immediately started a new startup Black garlic since 2 July. Black Garlic provides service preplan home meal kit delivery, or delivery of ready-to-cook food ingredients. They took Olivia Wongso, son of culinary expert William Wongso as one of the co-founder. William Wongso himself was involved in Black Garlic as advisor.

To DailySocial, Michael, about why they are still establishing startups that "smell" with food, replied, "We see that there are still many opportunities in the industry. food tech in Indonesia, and we also want to have first mover advantage for meal kit delivery service in Indonesia. We also see a lot advantage with this business model."

He admits that the concept of meal kit delivery service still unproven in Indonesia. Nevertheless, Michael believes that this concept will slowly be accepted by his target market because he thinks that the people of Jakarta will seek a healthier and more comfortable lifestyle, including for food.

Black Garlic itself offers packages for two and family packages that have been determined every week. It was stated that William Wongso was involved in preparing the menu, fresh ingredients, and cooking instructions that were expected to be easy for anyone to follow. Interestingly, Black Garlic confirms that all the food served is guaranteed to be halal.

Excellence meal kits, rather than ready-made food, is the concept designed to last. Black Garlic claims meal kits can last for five days if put in the refrigerator, even more if put in freezer.

What Black Garlic has to offer is "very family". For that they are trying to increase awareness of their services by presenting a photo competition titled #LetFamilyBeFamily.

Sebagai first mover, this segment is not filled with many players. Among food-based startups, only BerryKitchen has entered this business by serving the segment Ready to cook.

Michael said the current operational costs still come from the founders, aka bootstrapping. He said, "The target is by the end of this year we can raise seed funding from VCs."
