Thanks to the Pandemic, Digital Literacy Has Again Increased 5%

However, on the other hand, the Digital Culture pillar fell 6% to be in the spotlight

It is undeniable that the flow of technology use is growing so rapidly in today's digital era, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. "There are an additional 21 million active users in the digital space during the Covid-19 pandemic. Internet usage in Indonesia averages 8 hours, 36 minutes in 1 day or exceeds the world average (6 hours 37 minutes)," said Semuel A. 2022/1/2).

The Indonesian people need to be wise in responding to this flow of use. With digital convenience, there will certainly also be risks, such as from a security perspective, namely fraud online. This is important to understand digital literacy without prejudice to Indonesian culture.

According to research results between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) and Katadata Insight Center (KIC), Wednesday (1/2/2023) it is known Indonesian digital literacy index in 2022 by 3,54 points, an increase compared to the previous two years, namely in 2021 by 3,49 points and in 2020 by 3,46 points calculated on a scale of 1-5. There will be an increase of 0,05 points in Indonesia's digital literacy in 2022 and an increase of 0,03 in 2021. This also indicates an increase in digital literacy in Indonesian society every year for the last three years.

Launching the status of Digital Literacy 2022 is available after a survey was conducted in 34 provinces and 514 cities throughout Indonesia with a total of 10 thousand respondents. The benchmark for Indonesia's digital literacy index is through four pillars which refer to the Kominfo framework in the 2020-2024 Digital Literacy Road Map, namely Digital Skills (3,52), Digital Ethics (3,68), Digital Safety (3,12), and Digital Culture (3,84). It can be seen that Digital Culture is the highest score pillar and Digital Safety is the lowest score pillar.

Being on the highest score pillar, Digital Culture actually experienced a decrease of 0,06 from the previous year. This decline needs further attention when there is an increase in Digital Literacy status in 2022. This is because Digital Culture is also very important to support further Digital Literacy.

Digital Culture is something that shapes the way users interact, think, communicate, and behave in an environment where the means of use is internet technology. From the survey, the percentage of users who do not include the current author's name repost by 89,9%. Quite a high score in the Digital Culture benchmark.

Digital Culture Index It can also be seen from the frequency of WhatsApp that is used the most and the longest per day on a national scale of 56,42 percent. The average Indonesian people access the internet in the morning and at night.

It is also known from the survey results of 73.71%, that people generally use technology, in this case social media, because it is a means of communication and interaction in everyday life. In addition, there is a follow-up factor of friends who have used social media by 50.32%.

"Social media is still more widely used for socializing, while for social media productivity still lacking, digital utilization for service access is still lacking.” Said Vivi Zabkie who took part in the Talkshow launching the 2022 Digital Literacy status.

The decline in the Digital Culture pillar indicates that there is a digital culture that is not running as it should from its users. However, efforts to launch Digital Literacy status by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics together with KataData are inseparable from efforts to improve security, ethics, culture and digital capabilities of users with various segments, both the general public, government and education.

This signifies its importance public to be literate in digital literacy in the current era by paying attention to security, ethics, culture, and digital capabilities in its use. A user's skills and knowledge appropriately in the use of digital media. The hope is that Digital Literacy will create a society that understands or is able to have wise to positive communication and interaction in the use of existing technology.
