Losing Competition with Overwatch, Battleborn Officially Discontinued in January 2021

MOBA elements that are too thick make it less friendly to new players, and Overwatch offers the opposite

A few weeks before Overwatch was released, a mix gameplay MOBA and shooter actually it was already implemented by game title Battleborn. Second game it does offer a similar premise – first person shooter with characters that are equipped with various skill unique style game MOBA – however the only thing that has proven successful is Overwatch.

It's unfortunate for Battleborn. Just a year after its launch in May 2016, game made by Gearbox Software must be 'downcasted' to become free-to-play games to attract more players. Now Battleborn is just a matter of time; 2K Games as publisherjust now announced plans to close server Battleborn in January 2021.

The immediate impact of the announcement was the disappearance of Battleborn from various platform distribution online. Furthermore, starting February 24, 2020, Battleborn players will no longer be able to purchase currency Interactive used in game. Then when his retirement comes in 2021, Battleborn really won't be able to be played again by anyone.

I personally am a Battleborn and Overwatch player. As a big fan of the series Borderlands, which incidentally is shooter franchise Gearbox's best seller, I was easily captivated by Battleborn, moreover I've also spent thousands of hours playing DotA and Dota 2.

But what makes Battleborn fail in my opinion is the MOBA element that is too thick. at Battleborn, hero what you play will fight with kroco troops who are often referred to as minion or creep among MOBA players. Overwatch is not like that, the only people who kill each other are heroonly.

Presence minion makes Battleborn more like a MOBA than Overwatch. But on the other hand it also directly affects the tempo and duration of the game; one match Battleborn lasts a lot longer than Overwatch, and I don't think it's suitable for the majority of consumers, especially those who expect fast-paced gameplay. shooter game in general.

Furthermore, the thick MOBA elements in Battleborn also make learning curveis quite high. New players will definitely find it more difficult to master the mechanics of Battleborn than Overwatch. Once again, gameplay what Battleborn has to offer is actually very attractive, but attractive to only a small number of consumers.

It's a shame to see game potential like this should be forgotten. As far as I can remember, the total duration I played Battleborn was only around tens of hours, while in Overwatch I had online for hundreds of hours. Had Overwatch not existed, Battleborn's fate would probably have been luckier than it is now. But in reality this is not the case.
