Banopolis wants to fill Bandung streets with bicycles

Will operate in early 2017 in collaboration with PT LEN Industri

Bike rental concept (bike sharing) this modern era we have often encountered in various major cities of the world. In Indonesia, the concept of bike sharing average is limited on campus and it is not paid. Banopolis tries to offer the concept of a paid bike sharing in the city of Bandung with the hope of helping the government reduce traffic congestion.

System bike sharingBanopolis, which is called Boseh, is a form of collaboration between Banopolis and PT LEN Industri which was appointed by the Bandung city government to realize this big dream. Of course we all know that the current Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil, likes to travel by bicycle. Once operational, this system will be the first in Indonesia.

The forerunner of Banopolis began in 2012 when a number of young people pioneered similar ideas with CSR funds and assistance from the ITB Alumni Association. The registration system, loan system, and shelter are still manual.

Anugerah Nurrewa, who was involved in this activity, tried to explore this technology by taking the topic of transportation non-motorised as a postgraduate study material. He then pioneered Banopolis which is called utilizing IoT, GIS, and NFC technology.

This system will be launched in early 2017 by presenting 30 stations/shelters and 270 units of bicycles. To DailySocial, it was mentioned that the payment system developed was an NFC-based smartcard as a starting point. Next they hope to partner with banks to expand the ease of payments.

Banopolis said the initial funding was not the same as most other technology startups. Banopolis itself is funded from the proceeds of their acceptance as a consulting firm, while the project bike sharing This is funded by the Bandung city government through the APBD.

Currently, the Boseh project is said to have entered the production stage and the construction of the station can be seen in several locations, for example the intersection between Cihampelas and Pasteur.

Of course the realization of Boseh must be appreciated. What is more important is how to manage this service so that it remains targeted and sustainable, because many "public transportation solutions" in Indonesia do not last long. Check out the progress of Boseh and Banopolis activities on his Facebook page.
