AWS Plans to Invest 71 Trillion Rupiah in 15 Years, Strengthening "Cloud" Business in Indonesia

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that it has officially opened the Indonesian Region, namely the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region. The opening of this new Region is in line with AWS' plan to invest $5 billion or around 71 trillion Rupiah in the next 15 years in Indonesia.

Delivered on media briefings Virtually, AWS Indonesia Country Manager Gunawan Susanto said that investment commitment in the country is projected to create as many as 24.700 jobs, either directly or indirectly.

On a macro scale, he said, the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region is estimated to be able to contribute to Indonesia's GDP of $10,9 billion or Rp. 155 trillion.

This is because this region will enable developers, startups, entrepreneurs, large-scale companies, governments, and non-profit organizations to transform and serve customers through various digital.

"Therefore, AWS seeks to Provide this need by conducting various training skill for the sake of strengthening talent local. This will all support AWS [business] in Indonesia, making the Region ready to provide good service in Indonesia," said Gunawan.

Strengthening the Jakarta Region

Currently, AWS has 84 availability zone in 26 geographic regions of the world, and plans to add 24 availability zone and eight other AWS Regions next year.

For the Asia Pacific region, several AWS Region locations are spread out, including the AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region for Australia, the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region for India, the Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region for Singapore, and the Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region for Japan. .
