Ardent Capital Combines Investment Portion with Wavemaker Partners

Ardent Capital, an investment company headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, today announce has agreed to merge its investment portfolio with Wavemaker Partners. With the agreement, Ardent Ventures' early-stage investment portfolios, such as Salestock, HappyFresh, Playbasis, Floship and others will be under the management wavemaker. Ardent Capital EO Adrian Vanzyl himself joined Wavemaker as a Venture Partner.

Adrian explained that the merger of Ardent Capital's portfolio with Wavemaker will not affect employment at the company. Companies that Ardent Labs built from scratch, such as aCommerce, Orami, Bizzy, and Snapcart, were not affected by this corporate action.

Ardent Capital, which is incorporated in Hong Kong, has two business models, Ardent Ventures and Ardent Labs, under one roof. Ardent Ventures is a traditional venture capital firm that pursues a minority stake in the company in its early stages, whereas Ardent Labs builds the company from the ground up and appoints its chosen people in company management.

“If you look at our main assets at Ardent, they come from Ardent Labs. We have the idea, 100 percent financing, and put in place team management. Similar to what Rocket Internet does. We create companies. . . These are all that we create ourselves and we will actually be in management,” said Adrian.

Adrian also explained that with this merger from the venture side, Ardent will take advantage of the access that Wavemaker has to grow the investor network. In the last 12 months, Wavemaker's portfolio has attracted many parties, such as Luxola, which was purchased by LVMH, GushCloud, which was purchased by YelloMobile, and Pie, which was acquired by Google.

Wavemaker's Managing Partner Paul Santos said he is very confident that Ardent's portfolio will generate even better returns. Wavemaker is based in the United States and one of the top investors Tim Draper is an investor in the company.
