Amazon Frees Public Data Sets
Amazon release web service Public Data Sets this afternoon. The project encourages developers, researchers, academics and businesses to upload large amounts of data to Amazon. Expected data such as census data, demographics, genome, and others. This data can then be integrated into other applications that rely on Amazon Web Services.
An Amazon spokesperson said data such as population censuses are huge to download and very hard to find, but now app developers can start accessing and calculating that data in minutes.
Data is hosted for free, and is accessible from today. The available data include genome data (Annotated Human Genome) which contains chemical structure, population census, and worker statistics. The data in these Public Data Sets provides centralized storage that can easily be integrated with Amazon Web Service's Cloud Computing applications.
