Already Connected, Now Can Transactions with QRIS in Malaysia
The trial of the Indonesia-Malaysia QR Code payment interconnection was carried out in January 2022
Bank Indonesia (BI) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) inaugurated a strategic partnership for cross-border payment interconnection (cross border) by using a QR Code.
This launch is a follow-up to trial phase which was successfully carried out since January 27, 2022 to encourage payment interconnection. Previously, cross-border payments were implemented in Thailand last year.
This bilateral cooperation involves a number of financial institutions in each country. Indonesians visiting Malaysia can scan the QR Cross Border or DuitNow QR Code, both at merchant offline or online. Currently, DANA is the first digital wallet platform to be able to transact with QR Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in Malaysia.
