Alodokter Introduces Virtual Teleconsultation Assistant "Alni"

Armed with Natural Language Processing technology, Alni is able to understand everyday language and distinguish tens of thousands of medical conditions

Startups healthtech Alodokter introduces an AI-based virtual assistant "Alni" to help doctors provide analysis and diagnosis of patient complaints. Alni has the ability to understand the context of patient questions so as to facilitate teleconsultation through the Alodokter application.

Alodokter Chief Medical Officer Louise Hewitt explained, the company understands the importance of new innovations to improve customer experience and take interactions on the Alodokter platform to the next level. "Alodokter developed Alni as clinical decision tool who are able to interact with patients regarding health conditions, as a first step for consultation and assisting doctors' workflow in treating patients," he explained in an official statement, Friday (24/2).

Hewitt likens Alni to ChatGPT, chatbot based on AI that is able to carry out conversations and provide answers to the needs of its users' questions. Currently, Alni is only available specifically for teleconsultation services.

Alni uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology so that it can understand everyday language and distinguish tens of thousands of medical conditions. Alni is also supported by algorithms and giant data sets of conversation interactions between patients and doctors in the Alodokter ecosystem.

"With this sophistication, Alni is able to dialogue and ask critical questions about the patient's health both symptoms and conditions to understand and carry out in-depth medical assessments."

Not just dialogue, Alni is said to have the cognitive skills to determine the patient's risk level from minor to urgent. This is the result of Alni's programming aspect which focuses on choosing the right algorithm to achieve accurate results and further verified by doctors. Alodokter ensures that every conversation on Alni that contains sensitive patient data is stored and analyzed safely.

Patients can interact with the healthcare system to get answers to their medical questions. Alni ensures that patients can make a diagnosis based on the symptoms provided through an interface that is compatible with human language, and supports patients in making an appointment with the doctor or clinic of their choice, all verified by the doctor.

"So far Alni has had a very good track record in recent years, in which we have managed to improve the accuracy of medical procedures significantly. The patient satisfaction rate increased by 15% when using Alni compared to consultations without this assistant, and 100% of doctors work more efficiently in providing medical care to patients."

Hewitt continued, Alni's presence provides additional features that the company has provided, namely the convenience of teleconsulting with doctors, making doctor appointments or searching for hospitals of choice, shopping for health needs, access to health articles, and health protection with Aloprotection.
