Alodokter Gets Additional Funding from MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures

MDI Ventures has previously joined the series C funding which was announced last November 2020

Startups healthtech Alodokter today (07/6) announced the acquisition of additional funds from MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures Investment Corporation. No mention of the amount of funds added, this investment continues series C+ pendanaan funding previously booked in November 2020 and series C funding in October 2019.

"Investments from MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures will be directed towards further enhancing the Alodokter ecosystem [..] Key areas of focus going forward include technological innovation, improvement talent pool, as well as the addition of new features and functionality. Our expansion has always focused on providing a fast, accurate and reliable consumer experience on the Alodokter platform," said Alodokter Founder & CEO Nathanael Faibis.

From the statistics submitted, Alodokter is currently connected to around 43 thousand doctors and 1500 hospitals/health clinics. They have also served millions of patients in Indonesia. The services sold include health content, telemedicine, ordering online doctor appointment, drug purchase, and insurance packages.

"The pandemic has boosted service acceptance Telemedicine for both patients and healthcare providers. We believe that enabling better healthcare through technology is more important than ever," added Alodokter Suci Arumsari, Co-Founder & President Director.

Throughout 2021, the sector healthtech is getting more attention, because of its potential to help people gain access to health. Other healthcare startups are also receiving funding, including rivals Halodoc in April 2021 announced series C funding worth 1,1 trillion Rupiah. Recently, Prixa also booked seed funding 40 billion Rupiah from MDI Ventures and TFT.

"Alodokter has a proven track record in developing their comprehensive healthcare solutions. All innovations, from Telemedicine to insurance, have been developed to meet Indonesia's need for affordable and affordable health services. Funding from MDI will further expand the growth of health services through the potential for collaboration with several BUMN entities in Indonesia," said MDI Ventures CEO Donald Wihardja.

Since 2019, Alodokter has also been supported by various groups of investors, including Softbank Ventures, Sequis, Golden Gate Ventures, Philips, Heritas, and Hera Capital.

For Samsung Ventures themselves, apart from Alodokter, they have invested in Travelio and Gojek. Meanwhile, apart from Alodokter and Prixa, MDI Ventures has also invested in startups healthtech others, namely mClinica (Singapore), CXA Group (Singapore), and Heals Healthcare Group (Hong Kong).
