Alibaba Cloud Soon to Open Data Center in Indonesia

It is expected to strengthen Alibaba Cloud's position in the Asian and World markets

Alibaba Cloud, a cloud computing service provider from China, is starting to seriously enter the Indonesian market. This is indicated by the announcement that it will open data center in Jakarta no later than March 2018. The company, which is part of the Alibaba Group, is trying to target SMEs by providing cloud services that are claimed to be efficient and of high quality.

Apart from Jakarta, the plan Alibaba Cloud will also open a data center in Mumbai, India. This announcement was made during the Computing Conference which took place in Shanghai, China, some time ago.

Senior Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of Alibaba Cloud Simon Hiu said in a release that the opening of new data centers in Indonesia and India is expected to strengthen Alibaba Cloud's position in the Asian region and also globally.

“I believe Alibaba Cloud is the only global cloud service provider from Asia, uniquely positioned with cultural and contextual advantages to provide innovative data intelligence and computing capabilities to users in these regions. Building data centers in Indonesia and India will strengthen our position in this area and also globally,” said Simon.

With the addition of this new data center, Alibaba Cloud has a total of 17 data center spread over several countries, such as China, Australia, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

Indonesia and India are two countries with startup potential that are considered similar because of the patterns and habits of their users. The inclusion of Alibaba Cloud data centers in two countries, with this growing startup ecosystem, illustrates the company's vision that is targeting technology companies, especially startups.
