Cloud, big data, machine learning is the type of technology most often mentioned in the digital era like now. It can be said that mastering these three technologies is an absolute capital to meet the needs of today's industry.

Of the three types of technology above, the cloud is one of the most crucial. It makes it easy for consumers, both individuals and corporations, to analyze data from anywhere and anytime. Especially for corporations, they don't have to bother building their own complicated and expensive storage infrastructure.

Alibaba Cloud is one of the largest cloud service providers in the world with approximately 61 availability zone in 20 regions spread all over the world. They established their first data center in Indonesia in March 2018, followed by a second in January 2019, making Indonesia one of the most important markets for Alibaba Cloud in Asia Pacific.

From these several important milestones, it is enough to make Alibaba Cloud understand that Indonesia is moving towards (fully) digital. It's mushrooming startup and digital transformation by many corporations, creating demand for digital services, such as cloud, higher than before.

However, what Alibaba Cloud has done to support digital transformation in Indonesia puts forward a holistic approach.

One of them is by holding a "Digital Talent Empowerment Program" by cooperating with universities and institutions. The aim of the program is to train 2.000 students in digital technology, particularly cloud and intelligence technologies.

"Empowerment partnerships this is part of Alibaba Cloud's commitment to talent empowerment. Besides that, not only students are trained, but also trainers, so that they can empower the latest Alibaba Cloud technology," explained Head of Alibaba Cloud Indonesia, Leon Chen.

Leon explained that Alibaba Cloud's desire to hold this program is not without reason. He sees that human resources in Indonesia have great potential and desire to learn. This potential can be maximized if it is supported by adequate access to knowledge for the wider community.

Alibaba Cloud views this as an opportunity to share knowledge. As a technology owner, Alibaba Cloud helps the public to bridge them to have access to the latest technological knowledge.

"Actually, there are no HR issues in Indonesia, but I think they just haven't found a way to find that knowledge. And that's what prompted Alibaba Cloud to create startup programs, training, because what we see here is that the human resources are very willing to learn, have great potential, and absorb knowledge quickly," added Leon.

This Alibaba Cloud initiative involves several leading universities such as Bina Nusantara University and Prasetia Mulya University. On the other hand, Alibaba Cloud also collaborates with Trainocate, PT Innovation Informatics, and BLOCK71 Jakarta to complete this series of digital talent development initiatives. Diah Wihardini, Director of BINUS Global at Bina Nusantara University, said this collaboration with Alibaba Cloud benefits the students. With a partnership like this, they have the opportunity to directly access the latest technological knowledge from industry players.

"We hope that students studying at Binus can be absorbed, get jobs quickly, respond quickly, so that they can work for the progress of the nation. Through this collaboration, Binus is helped by Resources from Alibaba Cloud with excellent teaching materials ," continued Diah.

In this program, Alibaba Cloud will also provide training for 60 teachers from Binus and Prasetia Mulya. From this teacher, the knowledge gained will be disseminated back to 2.000 students from both campuses. Leon added, Alibaba Cloud did not rule out collaborating with other universities in the future.

The sustainability of the industry will be better when the ecosystem is formed. Building a network of superior human resources is the right step to create a good ecosystem.

But Alibaba Cloud considers their initiative will not only benefit the industry itself. The talents who take part in their training will later spread to many places and implement the knowledge gained from Alibaba Cloud. Moreover, it is commonly known, the use of cloud computing has spread widely to various sectors, along with the proliferation of digital business.

"From this empowerment program, what is helped is not Alibaba Cloud itself, the impact can even be felt throughout this country. Cloud is very suitable, especially for markets like Indonesia, which have a large population, so they need technological solutions that can adapt quickly," concluded Leon.
