Windows 10 Already Used by 200 Million Devices

In early 2016, Microsoft release interesting information which states that more than 200 million monthly active devices in the world currently use the Windows 10 operating system.

This is a pretty good achievement considering that Microsoft's final target is 1 billion users in 2018. This means that 20% of the target has been achieved within 16% of the time it was announced. When compared to the previous version, the adoption speed of Windows 10 beat Windows 7 by 140% and Windows 8 by 400%.

This increase in adoption has more or less contributed to last year's Black Friday activities. Over 40% of new Windows 10 devices are active since then, until New Year's holiday, Windows marketshare in the US rose to 62%.

Other information is that 22 million devices use Windows 10 enterprise, indicating that hundreds of millions more are used by select consumers. Windows 10 is getting a lot of attention among consumers.

To show that not only the number of users is increasing but also that users are actively taking advantage of Windows 10, Microsoft released some interesting statistics:

• Over 44.5 billion minutes of time spent on Microsoft Edge
• Over 2.5 billion questions asked of Cortana
• Over 82 billion photos viewed using the Windows 10 Photo app
• More than 4 billion hours of time spent using games
• Game lovers do streaming over 6.6 million on Windows 10
• Windows Store visited more than 3 billion times, and 50% increase for paid transactions
• 60% of paid customers are new customers using the Windows Store in December
• Windows 10 generates 4.5x revenue per device compared to Windows 8.

Interesting to see how consumers are interested in doing upgrade to Windows 10. Most may be supported by factors upgrade free for the first 1 year since Windows 10 was released. For released figures, Microsoft combines total PC usage and phones.
